VMS - E-Map Settings

The e-map feature lets you situate cameras on an electronic map of the site.

Creating a map

For your first map, click the Create Map button. Once a map exists, the button changes to a smaller button labeled Create.

A dialog appears. Enter the map's name, select a parent e-map (if any, for reference only), and map type. When adding a Google map, use the Search tool to find a location by name or zip code / postal code. When adding a picture map, either click the image icon to open an upload dialog, or click and drag a file onto the icon to upload it. Picture maps must be JPG or PNG.

Hover your mouse over a map name to reveal additional icons. Click + to add a new sub map. Click to Edit to modify the map name and change its parent map. Click the trashcan to delete that map.

Click [OK] to save the settings.

Adding a hotspot

You can add cameras and sensors to your map using hotspots.

First, select the map to edit in the Map Management pane. Next, select either Devices or Sensors from the center column.

Drag a device from the list onto the corresponding area of its location on the map. A hotspot appears with the device name.

Click and drag the hotspot to adjust its placement. Right-click the hotspot to edit it or delete it.
