X4 Sunsetting Legacy Devices

The evolution to Control4 X4 is revolutionary. By adapting to customer needs, and with its unmatched convenience and customization, X4 provides the perfect complement for their preferences and lifestyle. However, As technology moves and improves, there is a greater demand for processing power, speed, and capabilities. We have reached a point with some of our legacy products and services where they can no longer provide the best customer experience and must be transitioned out.

CONTROL4 X4.0 WILL BE THE TERMINAL BUILD FOR GEN 1&2 LIGHTING, T3, EA OSD

Control4 X4 will be the terminal build for the devices listed below.* These devices will be able to update to Control4 X4.0. However, they will not be supported in the next release - whether that is X4.1 or X5. Customers that wish to update past X4.0 will have to remove and/or replace these devices:

  • Control4 T3 - Touchscreens* In-Wall and Table Top - 7" and 10"

  • Control4 Dimmers, Switches and Keypads - Gen 1 and Gen 2

  • OnScreen Display (OSD)* for Control4 EA1, EA3 and EA5 Controllers - v1 and v2

These legacy touchscreens and wireless lighting products have not been available for purchase for a number of years, and already have a reduced feature-set in OS 3.X due to their outdated components, and that handicap will increase with the updated to X4.

**T3 Touchscreens and EA Controllers will continue to provide the OS 3 UI experience while on X4.0.0

**T3 Touchscreens and EA Controllers will continue to provide the OS 3 UI experience while on X4.0.0

However, by supporting these devices in the update to Control4 X4.0, Control4 Customers will be able to enjoy the next evolution of the Control4 experience with the new Home Screen, dynamic Widgets, customer-managed Routines, and expanded HomeKit integration.

We are confident that the new X4 experience will encourage Customers to replace these legacy devices so that they can take full advantage of the complete feature-set, and also enable their continued enjoyment as they update to future releases of the evolved experience.

Because we are so excited for the debut of Control4 X4 - and the future it unlocks. – that we want to help encourage Customers to join the evolution. We are currently hard at work creating promotions, discounts and sales enablement tools that you can use to make hardware upgrades more alluring to Customers. Details will be released later this year when the program is launched and ready for use.
