X4 features a customer-focused redesign that includes the new Home Screen, a powerful system-wide dashboard and control panel, along with new Widgets that are dynamic and customizable, Routines that users can create and edit on a whim, and Apple HomeKit Integration that is as seamless as it is expansive and powerful.

Getting started with X4 Early Access

Here are the steps to follow to get X4 Early Access:

Get Control4 Connect with a demo license.

1. Move your Control4 dealer system into an OvrC Customer account.

   Previously, to get a demo license of 4Sight, you would designate a system as a “Showroom Account” in my.control4.com. For Connect demo plans, you need to convert your showroom account to an OvrC customer account. If you have already done this, you do not need to do this again.

2. Prerequisites:

   1. You must be a U.S. dealer, international dealers cannot use Control4 Connect at this time.

   2. Minimum versions: OS 3.4.2, Control4 App iOS v324.38 or Android v324.37

   3. OvrC Customer Location must have only 1 primary Control4 controller.

3. Updating to a Connect license demo plan

   Follow these steps to add a demo plan - Add Demo Plan.htm.

   Please visit theTroubleshooting Control4 Connect registration issues for more info on user emails.

Note: DO NOT issue a Demo Plan to an actual end customer account. It will terminate current 4Sight licensing and eliminate discount pricing for 1^st purchase.

Note: DO NOT purchase a Connect Plan. 
Connect Demo Plans cannot be applied to accounts with an active Connect Plan.
Once an active Connect plan has expired, a Connect Demo Plan can be assigned to the account.
Refunds will not be given for purchased Connect Plans.

Updating to X4

Understanding sunsetting devices

T3 touchscreen interface and the on-screen interface of EA controllers will not update with X4 (OS 4.0). Gen 1 and gen 2 lighting devices are no longer supported in OS 4.1.0.

Upgrading to X4

Now that we have verified that your account has an active Connect or Connect Demo license, Composer Pro should have prompted you to update. (If not, download here.)

1. Backup your project.

   Go to File > Backup and secure your project with a quick save.

2. Update your drivers.

   Under Driver > Manage Drivers, update all your drivers. (Some updates might prompt a primary controller restart—simply follow the on-screen instructions.)

3. Refresh Navigators.

   Go to File > Refresh Navigators to refresh your interface.

4. Verify all your drivers.

   Ensure that all your drivers—including any third-party drivers—are functioning properly before proceeding.

5. Start the update.

   Begin the update process and give it up to an hour to complete. Set your timer, walk away, and come back once the update is finished to enjoy the revolutionary x4 experience!
