Automatic Device Identification on Araknis x20 Switchports

Araknis x20 series switches automatically detect devices connected to the switch and display the Device Name on the switch's Details page in OvrC. If a device moves to a different port, wait one minute and refresh the OvrC page to see the changes. This does not change the Port Name that you may have manually configured.

Pro Tip: Perform a Scan to make sure all the connected devices are visible in OvrC.

Use Bulk Actions or the three-dot menu on a port's row to Rescan Connections.

Note: Ports connected to unmanaged switches or access points cannot identify connected devices because the port detects multiple devices.

Syncing Device Names to Port Names

Port Names can be manually entered in the Port Configuration in OvrC or the local UI. To sync the Device Name to the Port Name:

1. Select the port(s).

   

2. Click Bulk Actions.

   

3. Click Sync Device to Port Name.

   

OvrC displays a spinning wheel while it makes the changes. Allow the page to refresh to see the updated Port Names.

Identifying ports manually

Ports connected to unmanaged switches or access points cannot identify connected devices because the port detects multiple devices. Click the Identify Port button (the magnifying glass button for mobile), use the drop-down menu to select the MAC address of the connected device from the list of suggestions, then click Confirm.
