System Takeover
Any device running the OvrC Pro Agent can “unclaim” equipment from another OvrC account by initiating a System Takeover. This allows you to add a customer’s previously claimed OvrC devices to your OvrC dealer account, when requested by the customer, so you can provide continued service.
Note: System Takeovers do not reset the username and password for individual devices. If the password is lost or forgotten, you must reset the device to gain access. See our Resets & Restores page, or the product manuals, to reset a specific device.
Pro Tip: Carry an OVRC-300-PRO specifically for takeovers. Once the takeover is completed the device that was acting as the OvrC Pro agent in the location can be selected to perform all tasks.
This process was updated with the launch of OvrC Pro app version 7.4.0.
What’s Transferred?
Any device claimed by the OvrC Pro agent and their configuration. This includes OvrC Connect wireless profiles, network controls, and content filtering, because this information is written to the configuration of the device.
What Does Not Transfer?
Offline devices or devices that the OvrC Pro agent cannot reach and OvrC Connect users and macros, because it’s saved to the OvrC site. Not the device configuration.
Read the OvrC Connect topic for more information on OvrC Connect users and macros.
OvrC Pro devices that support System Takeover
Pro Tip: Use an OvrC Pro Hub device rather than a router or controller to perform the takeover. Using a controller or router runs the risk of being claimed through an automated network scan if the device is not already claimed to your OvrC account before connecting to the network for the takeover.

How to move the devices to your OvrC account
Caution: Leave the OvrC Pro agent disconnected from the network until you've claimed it on your account to avoid the device being claimed by the previous Partner of Record.
Note: If the location has Luma cameras connected to the NVR's internal switch, it’s best to transfer them to a PoE switch before the takeover. The NVR creates a subnet that the OvrC Pro agent cannot scan, so cameras connected to the NVR cannot be transferred.
-
Create an OvrC Customer and Location.
-
Claim an OvrC Pro agent in the new Location.
-
Connect the OvrC Pro agent to the network.
-
Go to the OvrC Pro Agent’s Device Details page > Pro Tools and click Begin System Takeover at the bottom of the page.
-
Allow the OvrC Pro agent to scan the network and claim the devices on the network.
Once the process is complete, the OvrC Pro Agent can be removed if another Pro Agent is part of the transfer or if Pro features aren't necessary for the location.
Note: Removing the OvrC Pro device does not allow you to perform regular network scans, perform speed tests, or monitor discovered devices.
